🔍 How each test works
IELTS tests four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The first three are done on paper or a computer, while Speaking is a face-to-face interview with a trained examiner. Many students like this because a real person listens to them.
PTE Academic is fully computer-based. You wear a headset, speak into a microphone, and every part is scored by AI. Because scoring is automated, results come back very fast, often within two days. The exam is also slightly shorter, around two hours.

There is no universally easy test. It depends on your strengths:
- Choose PTE if you are comfortable with computers and typing, prefer speaking to a machine, or need your result quickly.
- Choose IELTS if you prefer a face-to-face speaking test, do better with clear separated sections, or your target university or visa specifically asks for IELTS.
